Your post code sets the rules
DSSSB recruits for many Delhi Government departments, and each vacancy has its own post code. The skill test is defined per post code, so two DSSSB candidates can face different speeds. LDC and Junior Assistant post codes have used 35 wpm in English or 30 in Hindi on computer. Field Clerk post codes have used 30 and 25. Many post codes have no typing test at all.
Before you set a practice target, open the advertisement and skill test notice for your own post code.
Hindi in Kruti Dev
DSSSB notices say Hindi typing is done in the Kruti Dev font on a normal English keyboard. Kruti Dev follows the Remington-style layout, which is completely different from Inscript. If you are taking the test in Hindi, practise only on Kruti Dev.
This free test uses Unicode (Inscript) for Hindi, so it is best for English candidates and for a quick check. For Kruti Dev practice, use the DSSSB course on the Typing Orbit software.
Words and key depressions
DSSSB states its speeds in both words per minute and key depressions per hour, at five key depressions per word. 35 wpm is 35 × 5 × 60 = 10,500 key depressions per hour. This test reports both, so you can match your result to either figure in your notice.
